We left as two...and returned as three!

Here is our first family photo! As many of you know, we checked into the hospital on Monday, May 18th and began almost 48 hours of trying to induce labor. We were so excited to meet our baby girl! We finally got to meet her on Wednesday, May 20th at 5:41 pm. She came via c-section.
With a c-section, the baby is immediately taken out of the operating room; thankfully Stevie got to go with her while the doctor finished the surgery. After what seemed like an eternity, they finally brought her into me so I could see and kiss her.

Shyla is beautiful and perfect and I'm now wondering how we lived without her. She weighed 7 lbs 9.2 oz and was 19 inches at birth. Stevie and I are tired but adjusting to our new life and schedules. More updates and photos to come!

Nursery!

Shyla's nursery is ready for her arrival!

She has lots of stuffed friends waiting in anticipation!

Those of you who know my dad, please compliment him on his generosity letting us have his rocking chair. We will think of him everytime we rock our baby to sleep!

Baby Preperation!

One problem with our stroller...where will I put my coffee? My mom and I were so proud that we were able to put together the stroller on the day it arrived. But no one (and I mean no one) has been able to attach the cup holder to it! So for now it is sitting IN the stroller where our newborn will be very soon. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!
We love our stroller! I can't wait to be off bed-rest so Shyla and I can take Pancake for her much deserved walks around the neighborhood. We did a lot of research on strollers and carseats and chose this one because the car seat can accomodate a baby up to 30 pounds and it fits into this walking stroller (shown below) as well as the jogging stroller that will help me prepare for the November half-marathon.

I think we are as prepared as we can be for the adventure that we are about the embark upon: parenthood! Here is my suitcase. I keep telling Stevie he needs to pack some warm clothes...he probably won't and he will freeze and I will have no sympathy for him.

My First Post

My sister is making me start my blog today.

She is literally sitting next to me, making me start this blog today. Although I don't have much to blog about yet, I hope you enjoy this picture of me and Pancake at her first-ever photo shoot (it was a benefit for shelter dogs, otherwise we wouldn't have forced her into it).
